Your sign-in and password

Change your password or sign-in email, or get a reset link if you forgot it.

Forgot your password

  1. On the sign-in page, tap Forgot your password?
  2. Enter your email and tap Send me a link.
  3. Open the email, choose a new password (10 characters or more), and sign in.

Change your password

  1. Open Settings → Sign-in & password.
  2. Under Password, type your current password and a new one, and tap Change my password.
  3. This device stays signed in; every other phone and browser is signed out. We email you to say it changed.

Change your sign-in email

  1. In the same place, under Sign-in email, type the new address and your password.
  2. We send a link to the new address to confirm it, and a note to the old one with a way to undo the change if it was not you.

Two-step sign-in

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password all work.
  2. In Settings, find Two-step sign-in (search "password"), type your password and tap Switch it on.
  3. In the app, add an account and scan the square code (or type the key under it). Type the 6 digits the app shows and tap Confirm and switch on.
  4. Save the ten recovery codes somewhere safe, like your password manager. Each one works once, instead of the app, if you lose your phone.
  5. From now on, signing in (and resetting your password) asks for the 6-digit code too. Your other phones and browsers are signed out once, and sign in again with the code.
